Through the winding canals that reach far beyond the ponds of Upstate New York, there is a magical world filled with wildlife that reveals itself around every twist and turn. One evening last week, we boarded a small brown aluminum boat and headed into one of the canals that flow into Sandy Pond. We were almost instantly transported into a private animal sanctuary lined with tall cattails, swimming muskrats and the deep “doh doh” of bullfrogs sunning themselves in the warm brown mud. We dodged large Canada Geese, tree limbs and sunken logs to bring you the following photos. Enjoy!

I remember the canals from my childhood visits. Great pictures, thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed them! Thanks for reading.
